Yakiniku at Home

It's been more than half a year of Covid-19 being around our lives now. While there are few countries where appropriate and effective measures are implemented and have been doing great controlling the spread, and even brought the active cases down to zero (wow - Standing applause for NZ!), there are more countries which are still struggling so bad in controlling the spread of the virus. Some countries have not even peaked out the first wave of the virus! Hey, Indonesian government! Yes, you! I am pointing right at you! 😠

In Japan where I live, things were improving around mid May to mid June before the cases gradually increased and now we are at the point of what likely to be the beginning of the second wave, well at least in Tokyo. Even Tokyo has just been excluded from the Go To Campaign, which will be launched by the Japan government to promote economic restoration next weekend. People in Tokyo are discouraged from traveling to other prefectures in the fear of bringing the virus there, yet traveling within Tokyo seems daunting to me because it is a very much densely populated city, man! So, home it is.

As I told you in one of my previous posts, I began working from home in the beginning of March, I still am, and I still will be until who knows when. I've been staying home like literally everyday! I do online shopping as much as possible, so I only go grocery shopping once in about two weeks to get fresh milk, fruits and veggies. In these past months, I only went far (to office) maybe 5 time max to do errands that needed to be done at the office.

So what did I do this whole time of staying home? I started 'new hobby', painting digitally or with watercolor, I studied and took an online proctored exam for a certification, I joined many webinars, and of course just relaxed and enjoyed the moment. And one thing that I want to mention specifically in this post is that I even started doing yakiniku at home! Before Covid-19, I would just go to Panga (halal!) when I want to have yakiniku. So, after having an encouragement from a senior, I bought a yakiniku grill plate! As for the halal wagyu yakiniku meat, I purchased them online from either Panga Online Shop or Ajinatori Online Shop. Yummy πŸ˜‹, Alhamdulillah! You can have a little bit more variations of beef parts from Panga, but my favorite, which thankfully is available both in Panga and Ajinatori, is the Short rib or カルビ (read: karubi). It will melt right after you first chew it. Love πŸ’œ!

These are Halal Wagyu Marbled Short Rib from Ajinatori

Talking about meat, don't forget to arrange your Qurban, guys! It is definitely much more needed this year, as more people face difficulties economically to get foods with virus and natural disasters happening across the world.

A Little Secret

hehehe. It's embarrasing but really true ;p I remember when i used to live at the dormitory of Bogor Agricultural University, each time i had some apples, mangoes, etc, i would bring the fruit to my dorm then called some of my friends and told them i would share some fruits. But then i told them to peel some for me first ;p It happened a lot and still happens sometimes here in Japan. But the situation would be different. Because i know i can't peel the fruit, so i rarely buy one. But several times, my senior (mbak Rani) offered me some fruits and she always said, "don't worry i would peel it for you..". Soooo glad to have such a nice senior like her ;)
Anyway, last week i attended French Food and Culture Exchange at my campus. And we were about to cook some french cuisines together. So the menus were Potato Gratin, Tatin Pie (like an apple pie), and Mustard Sauce Chicken. Apparently i got the task to make the Tatin Pie. And guess what was supposed to be done first? Peeling some apples! And yeah it was frustrating like hell >.< And i even had someone taught me how to peel an apple, but still, it was hard for me. Luckily, with my best effort, i could peel about 4 apples eventhough the shape of the apples were weird afterthat. But, in the end the apple would be sliced into smaller slices, so there's no problem :)
And from those three menus, the taste of Mustard Sauce Chicken was the best for me. *hey don't  you dare to think that the tatin pie didn't go well, the rest of the members in my group said it was the best for them* hehehehe..

I'm so happy because i could eat many Indonesian foods today. Got a change to stop by at CABE, Indonesian restaurant in Meguro Tokyo, at lunch time. Then ordered mie ayam pangsit + nasi goreng. Since i was also starving for satay, then i ordered mutton satay to take home. So, now i just had dinner with my mutton satay. hehe :) I love Indonesian food for sure!

ABC Cooking Lesson

Today i had a great day. I only had one class today and it was English class. It's not because it's just English class, but since the teacher said that today we're just gonna have fun, so i was really enjoyed. Then after class, i went back to my room to have a short break and to pray. After that, together with Mba Rani, we went to Mba Dessy's house to celebrate her birthday. Actually her birthday was on Dec 20th. It was fun. We chatted a lot.
Around 3 pm, me and Mba Rani went to Roppongi Midtown, and we also met Huong Senpai there and had 2 hours cake lesson together. It was fun. I felt like 'oh god, here i really am. having a cake lesson. i'm making a cake! unbelievable!' Well, it may sounds too much. But i'm not really good at cooking. All i can do are only make scrambled egg, fried rice, and just those frozen-food-frying-stuffs. Anyway fortunately the lesson went so smooth. I could do every step that needed to be done. Oh yeah actually i need a lil help in some part. But still i felt like i still could handle it. Ahahaha..
Anyway, during the making process of the cake, suddenly i felt like my head was turning around and everything went dark. Luckily before i really fell, i quickly sat on the nearest chair to me. And after that i vomited (don't be misunderstood, please. I went to the toilet right after i felt like i would vomit). But anyway, the fact that i still able to continue the lesson after that incident was very great :)
And voilaa..here is the picture of the cake that i made..

Strawberry Dome Cake

After we finished the lesson, we went to see the illumination in Roppongi Mid Town. It was very beautiful. I think illumination in Roppongi Mid Town was the best compared to the one in Tokyo Tower and Shinjuku.

And our journey today was ended with dinner at Tengu. But actually only me and Mba Rani who went for dinner together since Huong Senpai already had another plan with her boyfriend.
Thanks to Mba Rani for inviting to come along to the free cake lesson. I think i'm gonna take the package cooking lesson someday. Since it costs a lot of money. I think i'm not financially ready now. Hehehe..

Syokubunka ι£Ÿζ–‡εŒ–

Today we moslems celebrate Idul Adha. But since i have full schedule for classed today, i couldn't go to pray together. So sad, i really loved to go.
Anyway today was such an roller coaster day for me. Started from didn't go to morning baito. And then i have big quiz for japanese class. As i finished the quiz early so i could leave earlier. Then i was heating a bread using microwave, and i didn't realized what's going on until i smell smoke in my room. And i found out that the bread was already burnt. And the worst thing is i can still smell the smoke until now even it has been 10 hours passed. Oh my God.
Then in the afternoon, my senpai called me and told me that i needed to go to η΅Œε–Άθ€…γƒ•γ‚©γƒΌγƒ©γƒ  as soon as possible because the forum would be held only until 16.10 which means it's held from the 3rd period to 4th period while i need to take a substitution absence for the 5th period class. Since i had class at 14.40 (on the 4th period) so my senpai said to me that i'd better go to the forum before the class (on the 3rd period). Then i was hurried and ran from my dorm to the hall. I was so tired and hungry because i haven't ate anything that afternoon.
After the forum, i had english class. Thanks God today we didn't talk much about our news project. Because i'm kinda bored about it for now. We were only listening to some people's experiences about stereotypes.
Then i went to syokubunka. It's such a cultural introduction on food. And today's foods were korean foods. We saw the cooking demonstration from korean students then we tried to make the foods in group. We made Stewed Kimchi, Cucumber Kimchi, and Chijimi. Well, actually i should have been able to eat cucumber kimchi and chimiji because these foods don't use pork as the ingredient. But, one of my group member was doing such a suck thing. She cut pork and vegetables with the same knife without washing it first. So when she cut the vegetables, the knife was already being used to cut pork before. So i couldn't eat anything. Huuuuhhhh..It was making me in bad mood.
But after that syokubunka, i went to kyoudo with joyce and tree. I ate takoyaki there. Oishikatta!
Ooohh..so tired today. And i have to wake up early tomorrow because i will go for momiji hiking. So, gonna go to bed right now. Good night all x)
